Studyr Privacy Policy
Effective 30 October 2026. Studyr is published by Aurora Wayz LLC (Wyoming, USA). Contact: edwin.junie@gmail.com.
The short version
- Studyr has no accounts and no sign-in.
- Your subjects, notes, flashcards and study history are stored on your device.
- When you ask Studyr to make flashcards, the text it works from is sent through our server to an AI provider, Groq. We do not store it.
- We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics.
What stays on your device
Your profile choices (such as school stage and subjects), uploaded or pasted material, text read from photos and scans, syllabus packs, flashcards, review history, streaks and settings are stored only on your device. Audio you record for lecture notes is stored on your device and deleted when you save or discard it.
Text in photos and scans is read on your device. Lecture audio is turned into text using Apple's speech recognition. Apple may download language files or process speech under its own privacy terms.
What is sent when you make flashcards
When you tap Start on Make flashcards, and only after you have agreed on the consent screen, Studyr sends the following for that request:
- the text of the material you chose, in parts;
- if you include a syllabus pack: the syllabus text, sample questions and notes pages (as text);
- the subject name, your school stage and an approximate age range, so the cards suit your level.
This goes to our server (a Cloudflare Worker), which passes it to Groq, the AI provider that writes the cards, and returns the result to the app. Photos, images and recordings themselves are not sent, only text.
What we keep
Our server does not store or log the text you send or the cards that come back. To limit abuse, it keeps a random device identifier together with the times of recent requests, and forgets them after about a day. The identifier is created by the app, stored in your device's Keychain, and is not linked to your name or any account. It is not removed by "Delete all my data", because removing it would let the usage limits be bypassed.
What Groq does with it
According to Groq's documentation, Groq does not retain customer data for inference requests by default. Groq may temporarily log inputs and outputs for reliability troubleshooting or to investigate suspected abuse, and these logs are kept for up to 30 days unless the law requires longer. Groq collects usage metadata that does not contain inputs or outputs. Groq's own privacy policy applies to its handling of data: groq.com/privacy-policy.
Who can use the AI features
The AI features are for people aged 18 and over. You confirm this before the first request. If you do not agree, Studyr still works without AI features.
Reporting a problem with a card
If you tap "Report a problem" on a card, your email app opens with that card's text filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send the email, and it goes to us at the address above.
Your choices and deleting your data
- You can withdraw your consent for AI features at any time in Settings.
- "Delete all my data" in Settings removes everything Studyr stores on your device, including subjects, cards, review history, syllabus packs and settings.
- Deleting the app also removes its data from your device.
- Because we do not keep your content on our server, there is nothing there to delete. For questions or requests about your data, email us.
Other things we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads or use third-party advertising or analytics tools.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Service providers
Cloudflare hosts our server. Groq provides the AI. Apple provides speech recognition on your device. Each handles data under its own terms.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above. If a change affects what is sent to the AI provider, the app will ask for your consent again.
